…a bit about me
It’s a privilege to be considered to be part of your special day. I love to hear your love story, what makes you tick and what your hopes are for your wedding ceremony. My favourite part of a ceremony is seeing the smiles, watching the tears of joy and hearing the laughter of your guests as they engage in the ceremony we have created together. I strive to bring joy and humour to your celebration and believe that the ceremony is about honouring each other and the journey you are embarking upon.
I’ve officiated a lot of weddings over the past 10 years and, as unique as each ceremony has been, I’ve enjoyed every one of them. Really, every one!
My Personal Story:
I was born in Vancouver but moved to Toronto as a child. I graduated from Albert Campbell High School. After obtaining an undergraduate degree in Political Science, I received a Master’s degree from Tyndale University College & Seminary.
I married the love of my life in 2003 and we have a spunky daughter who keeps us on our toes with dance lessons and Girl Guides. We also have more animals than people living in our home. We are proud “parents” to a rescue beagle, a moody rabbit and two very loud lovebirds. We are a family that’s kinda obsessed with the Toronto sports teams as we have shared season tickets to the Jays, Rock, and Argos. Sorry, we aren’t really Leaf fans.
My Life Experience:
I have been working in church ministry since 2000 serving inner city at-risk youth and families.
I am very involved at our daughter’s school having served on the School Advisory Council.
I do print and clothing design work and yes I do speak Cantonese.
My Interests and Passions:
Favorite Sports: Volleyball and Rugby
Favorite Interests: Coffee (but nothing decaf) and hanging out with family and friends.
Favorite thing to do: Cooking – mainly eating. I fancy myself as a master of the BBQ grill. I am also an avid builder and collector of Star Wars Lego.
Favorite Music: 90’s R & B.
Favorite Pastime: We love exploring our city and province.
I look forward to connecting with you over coffee!

We are so grateful that you took the time to get to know us as individuals as well as a couple. Your message was so personal and engaging, presented with a great sense of humour that some of our guests still remembered and commented on our ceremony months afterward.
We are truly thankful to have had you help us create a ceremony that still resonates in our hearts to this day.

We don’t often listen to friend’s recommendations when it comes to major decisions, but in your case, we are thrilled that we decided to call and ask you to officiate our wedding ceremony. Every engaged couple wants their wedding day to be special and perfect; two very difficult objectives to meet. Thanks to you that’s exactly what we got.
You were a very important part of making our dream day a reality. You were patient, professional, easy to work with, and your sense of humour made us feel very comfortable. You were available to address our questions and remove a great deal of the stress that comes with planning a wedding. We also appreciated that you took the time to get to know our families as well as our wedding party.
We recommend your services to any couple looking for a kind, supportive, and knowledgeable wedding officiant.

We wanted to take a moment to reflect upon the work Chris Yu did as our officiant. We met with a few other officiants before meeting Chris. And in a way we are glad we did. It allowed us to appreciate just how awesome Chris is at this. Within ten minutes, we felt like he was a friend. He somehow managed to balance being incredibly well organized, thoughtful, caring with being casual and making us feel relaxed before our big day. And we knew we were in good hands rightfrom the start, making us feel more relaxed and less stressed about the ceremony knowing someone like him would be the officiant.
On the day of, he came around early to check in on us. We think he knew our nerves were a bit high. He calmly told us how great things were going to be, and we believed him. When the ceremony started, he delivered a beautiful ceremony working with words he crafted with us. At the end of it, numerous people came up asking us he we knew him as they had assumed he was a friend.
He makes the focus the mood and feel that the couple and their families want on the big day.
We are grateful he was there on our wedding day. Thank you Chris. We can’t think of any way anyone could have done as great of a job as you did.

Chris Yu was such a pleasure to work with from the day we first met him to our wedding day. We initially Skyped with Chris as we had met with an officiant who we felt did not suite our personalities. As soon as we spoke to Chris, we both felt like he was the right choice for us and our ceremony. Throughout the process of planning our ceremony, Chris was very helpful and offered support to make the process stress-free.
The Enduring Promises module was easy to use and a great tool to create our ideal ceremony. On the day-of, Chris checked in with us before the ceremony to make us feel at-ease and spoke to family members that had a role. After our ceremony, we had so many people comment on how great the officiant was and ask us how we knew him. He had done such an outstanding job, that a lot of our guests believed him to be a friend of ours! Thank you Chris for being a part of our day!
